The Illinois Fall Planning Conference Burnham and Beyond: Celebrating 100 Years of Chicago Planning The Illinois Department of Transportation invites you to share in the celebration of one of the most innovative and time tested planning exercises, ‘The Burnham Plan'. During the conference, we will hear from Transportation professionals and local leaders from across the state still building upon the common principals outlined in the plan from Daniel Burnham and Edward Bennet in 1909 in their communities. 100 years later we have renewed our focus on sustainable development in urban areas while allowing for the cultural and aesthetic aspects proposed by Burnham. Please join us October 14 – 16 th at the historic Allerton Hotel (www.the allertonhotel .com) located on the Magnificent Mile in the heart of downtown Chicago.
